GENESEE MANUFACTURING can help you increase productivity and cut manufacturing costs

Genesee Manufacturing Company has been designing and manufacturing cutting tools for industry since 1908. Throughout our long history, we have introduced innovative products that help industry increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs with unique designs that are adjustable, versatile and easy to use.

Product Overview
Genesee Manufacturing's main product line includes standard and special production cutting tools of a multiple inserted, replaceable blade or carbide insert variety, machining from the end of the part. We offer a standard line of adjustable Hollow Mills, Tube Deburring Tools and Counter bores using either HSS or carbide tipped blades and available with either straight or Morse Taper shanks. These tools are available in a wide variety of styles and sizes as detailed in the PDF format data sheets included with each product description on this web site.

Our Special Production Tools use either form blades or indexable inserts in adjustable insert holders or cartridges and are designed for your specific application.

Standard Tool Features
Genesee's standard adjustable hollow mills hold from 2 to 8 replaceable blades depending on the cutting process. The same tool can hold different form blades to create an almost infinite number of finish cut profiles.
Standard GEN-DEX Tools
Our patent pending GEN-DEX tool enables operators to hollow mill from the end of a part, with multiple indexable inserts. There is no need to interpolate or single point and no additional set-up is necessary after indexing. The result is reduced cycle time, increased productivity and increased feed rates.
Adjusting Ring
A hardened, ground adjusting ring allows uniform precision adjustment of blades or insert holders. A family of parts in different diameters can be produced with one tool and set of blades as illustrated here.
Multiple Steps
Our hollow mills enable multiple steps to be performed with one set-up. A combination of different profile form blades allow you to perform what would otherwise be separate or secondary operations simultaneously at one station in one pass. I.e. Facing and centering, chamfering, deburring, etc.

Benefits of Hollow Milling

  • Low cost, rapid production tooling easily adapted for your needs.
  • Hollow mills and other tooling from Genesee Manufacturing offer many advantages over single point turning or interpolation methods, particularly on high production runs. These advantages include:
  • Multiple blades or insert holders allow you to triple your feed rate.
  • Machining from the end of the part allows you to encapsulate the part, achieve balanced cutting action and hold concentricity and tolerances.
  • Adjustability often results in the ability to produce a range of part sizes using a single tool body.
  • Our special tools allow you to perform what would otherwise be separate or secondary operations simultaneously at one station in one pass.
  • Genesee tools are easy to set and adjust.
  • Our blades can be easily ground per our instruction in a simple fixture, or we offer regrinding services.
  • GEN-DEX hollow mills offer a throwaway indexable insert alternative to blades where complex forms or sharp corners are not required.
  • Genesee blades can be reground dozens of times and are then replaceable.
  • Standard products can be altered to suit customer requirements.
  • Form blades with single or multiple chamfers and radii are produced to order.
  • We will provide shank type and size to your specifications including over spindle mounting, face mounting, face plate mounting or other requirements.
  • Special holders, adapters, internal tools and the like can be manufactured and/or supplied where appropriate.
